CHILD THERAPY

For little minds, the challenges of growing up can feel really big.

Navigating new emotions, relationships, and our ever-changing world can be difficult, and lead to unwated behaviors and unhealthy patterns.

HOW CHILD THERAPY CAN HELP:

Develop strong coping and problem-solving skills

Learn to express emotions in safe and healthy ways

Build confidence and independence

Overcome anxiety (separation, social, sleep, etc.)

Increase positive interactions with others

Improve flexibility and cooperation

MY PHILOSOPHY:

I see children ages 4-12 struggling with a range of emotional and behavioral concerns that are most typically described as "big feelings" or "big reactions." I will work with your child to better understand and express their emotions, develop coping skills, improve emotion regulation, and increase positive behaviors and self-esteem. I draw on a range of tested techniques including play, art, bibliotherapy, skill-building, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), movement, relaxation, and mindfulness.

In my approach to supporting young children, I emphasize an integrative and adaptable approach. Research underscores the significance of parental involvement in enhancing the effectiveness of child therapy, and it often serves as a pivotal factor for success. I prefer to work outside of a narrow framework, recognizing the fluid nature of each unique situation. Throughout the treatment process, alongside individual sessions with your child, I may incorporate dedicated sessions for parents and even family-oriented interventions, tailored to the specific needs that may arise. This holistic approach aims to foster a comprehensive and supportive environment for your child's well-being.
