WHAT IS A PARENT COACH?

IS PARENT COACHING OR CHILD THERAPY RIGHT FOR ME?

PARENT COACHING

Parent coaching is a short-term, solution-based, and goal-oriented intervention constructed to address immediate parenting obstacles. Through parent coaching, I can offer support, strategies and psychoeducation related to your child’s specific experiences and his/her developmental stage. My parent coaching methodology focuses on the present and future: What are the problems you are facing with your child and how can we create a plan to address them using tried and true parenting and child development theories. Parent coaching can be used in addition to or separate from child therapy. I'm happy to offer parent coaching in person, over the phone, or over video in order to fit your busy schedule. On a case-by-case basis, I also offer in-home parental support. However we meet, you will leave parent coaching with a clear plan that you can implement on your own to overcome whatever obstacle you're facing with your child.

CHILD THERAPY

Where parent coaching is focused on the present and future, my therapy practice focuses on removing the roadblocks from the past preventing your child from enjoying the present. Therapy is introspective and supports clients in working through emotions, traumas, behaviors, and patterns. While parent-coaching and therapy can occur in tandem, I think it is really important to identify the correct path to achieve your short and long-term objectives. I will work with you to make sure you and your child receive the correct method of care. Check out my child therapy services page for more information on how we can work together.
