The Summer Reset

A focused, time-limited program for families ready to work on one hard thing and enter the fall in a different place.

What it is

One focus, four to six weeks, two clinicians working as one program

The Summer Reset is an intensive, time-limited program for children ages 3 to 12 and their families. Over 4 to 6 weeks, we focus on one thing: the specific, recurring challenge in your household. The moment everyone in the family is bracing for.

Your child meets with a therapist twice a week. You meet separately with a parent coach every week and a half to two weeks, working on what you can do at home to support the change you are both working toward. The two clinicians stay in close contact throughout so nothing falls through the cracks.

This is not open-ended therapy. It has a start date, an end date, and a clear focus in between. The goal by the time school starts is for your family to have a plan to successfully manage whatever your tough moment is.

Is this a good fit?

Tackle one problem, one moment

The Summer Reset works best when there is a specific, recurring problem to focus on. It does not need to be the only thing going on with your child. It just needs to be one thing you can name. Common examples include:

  • Separation anxiety at drop-off, transitions, or being away from home
  • Difficult mornings or evenings that derail the whole family
  • Getting dressed or out the door without a battle
  • Screen time fights and transitions off devices
  • Getting into the car, leaving the house, or transitioning out of activities
  • Hygiene resistance: showering, hairwashing, teeth brushing
  • Explosive reactions to predictable, everyday triggers

This program is designed for families who are new to Little Minds Therapy. If your child is already working with us, reach out directly and we can talk through whether the Summer Reset makes sense alongside your current treatment.

How it works

Five pieces, built to function as one program

01

Intake and goal-setting

We start with a focused intake session to get specific about what your family is dealing with and what you want to be different by the end of the program.

02

Twice-weekly child sessions, in person

Your child meets in person with Clare Cutler, LCSW, at our Bethesda office twice a week. Sessions are play-based and tailored to the specific challenge your family brought in.

03

Parent coaching sessions, virtual

Every week and a half to two weeks, you meet virtually with Claire Weinberg, LCSW-C, to talk through what is happening at home, what is helping, and what to try next. Virtual sessions make scheduling easier during a busy summer.

04

Provider coordination throughout

Claire and Clare check in with each other regularly so that your child's sessions and your coaching stay connected. You are not managing two separate relationships. It functions as one program.

05

Wrap-up session

The final session is about what shifted, what to keep doing, and how to carry the progress into the school year without losing it.

Common questions

A few things parents tend to ask

Do we need to be current clients?

No. The Summer Reset is specifically for families who are new to Little Minds Therapy. A short consult call is the first step so we can make sure it is the right fit.

What if we need more than 10 sessions?

Some families will move into ongoing treatment after the Summer Reset. We talk through what makes sense at the wrap-up session, without any pressure either way.

Who will we be working with?

Your child works in person with Clare Cutler, LCSW, at our Bethesda office. You work virtually with Claire Weinberg, LCSW-C. The two of them communicate throughout so it functions as one cohesive program, not two separate relationships.

What ages do you work with?

Children ages 3 to 12.

When does the program run?

June through August. Spots are limited and filled on a rolling basis, so please contact us soon if you are interested.
